A Firefighter’s Journey to Empower Everyday Heroes

My name is Glen Karnes, and I'm the founder of FACTS – a fully mobile safety training company serving Central Florida. Before launching this business, I spent over 20 years as a firefighter and paramedic, responding to countless emergencies and gaining deep, firsthand insight into what it means to be prepared—and what happens when people aren’t.
That reality hit me early in life. While responding to a medical emergency at a local school, I witnessed the panic that unfolds when people don’t know how to help. A teacher was having a seizure and became disoriented and combative. As others stood frozen, unsure what to do, I was able to safely assist him. It was in that moment I realized just how vital proper training is—not just for professionals, but for everyday people.
My passion for lifesaving skills began when I was 19, volunteering as an EMT, and grew stronger after the sudden loss of my father to cardiac arrest in 2005. That tragedy lit a fire in me to serve others in their worst moments. I became a firefighter/paramedic, earned promotions, taught future responders, and took every opportunity to share what I knew.
After a medical event during the COVID era, I was forced to take a step back from active duty. That moment, though challenging, gave me clarity. I wasn’t done helping people—I just needed a new path. That path became FACTS.
Today, I bring the same passion, experience, and heart to every training session I lead. Whether it’s CPR, active shooter response, or fire safety, I’m driven by one simple mission: to give people the knowledge and confidence to act when it matters most.
This work is deeply personal to me. It’s not just about checking a box for compliance—it’s about empowering people to save lives.
